Daisy and I have been raising chickens for several years now. I bought the chickens for Daisy to herd. Daisy is an American Border Collie and is happy when she is busy and has responsibilities. The chickens are her responsibility. She enjoys playing with them and herding them into the coop every night. Let me show you how I practice with my dog to herd chickens.

Daisy Dog Found Her Two Lost Chicks
Daisy’s six week old chicks were chased away by the older hens. The pen was new to the chicks and they had no sense where food, water & shelter were for them, they didn’t come back on their own.

Daisy Dog Herds 3 Week Old Baby Chicks
Chicks are 3 weeks old and outside to enjoy sunshine and grass. Daisy and I are not far, if their is trouble.

Daisy Dog Rescues Hens from Coyote
I let my chickens free range when I'm going to be out and around the yards.
This particular day I heard several times my hens squabble. Hens squabble with each other frequently. I'd investigate and saw the chickens all in different directions. My laying hens don't chum about with their younger roommates, so I didn't think much about it.

Teach Border Collie Daisy Dog to Herd Hens
Daisy Dog enjoys herding her hens, and takes her time to enjoy playing and visiting with her hens a little longer.
The hens don't fear Daisy Dog. They also take their time and try to not go to bed too early.
